Hello,
Next Diehards meeting is Tuesday November 24, check emails for final time location. We will have usual presentation, portfolio roundtable, question answer session, miscellaneous members brief presentations/handouts, open discussion and another presentation. We will be discussing "The Bogleheads' Guide to Retirement Planning" over several meetings, so try to read it if possible at some point (not neccessarily by this meeting), and write down what questions you have for the group as you read it for the roundtable session.
I look forward to seeing everyone again,
LH

7th Cincinnati Diehard Meeting held
Great meeting,
I really enjoyed tonights meeting, thanks to dave and ken for the presentations, dave if you could email me back the name of that book, I think I may read it, sounds like you really enjoyed it, and with 5 percent of my allocation in china, I think I should read it. I may well get out of china and put it into emerging for diversification. We had china bubble, vanguard rebalancing, and Swedroes REIT alternative investment reports tonight, as well as the regular roundtable and general impromptu discussions.
It would have probably taken me a couple years, if ever, to figure out that I could rebalance like Ken has done on vanguard. Its not really a well defined site. Great presentation.
It seems we have all broken our investment plans to some minimal extent, myself with doing a banded type rebalance, instead of my planned yearly rebalance. Feels good, and really minimal if any harm done. Overall we have all stayed the course.
It seems in terms of stock/bond ratios, we are all on the same path allocation wise given our age. We have a nice gradient of age in the group, although not anyone really young (which is defined as 20s early 30s heheheh).
Next meeting will be in october or novemeber. If anyone has any formal presentations they want to do, please let me know. And always feel free to make your own handouts for the roundtable section if you so desire for short 1-5 minute informal type talks or questions you have about your portfolio. I think we have a great wealth of knowledge in the group.
look forward to seeing everyone again,
LH

6th Cincinnati Diehard Meeting Held
Was an interesting meeting given all that has happened in the market. Reports on the Recession Causes and aftermath of Market Crisis were given. Thanks to David for giving his informative report on characteristics and length of past crisis.
The portfolio roundtable showed that for the most part, everyone attending has stayed the course. We had 8 people attending in an old bank vault at Tellers Restaurant in Cincinnati. We had two retirees and 6 aspiring retirees. Meeting ran just over two hours. No ice storms occurred. My thanks to the random person we got to take the picture and all who attended. Next meeting in 3-4 months.
cya soon,

5th Cincinnati Diehard meeting held July 15th.
Another great meeting, this time held appropriately enough, in a bank vault in a bank converted to a restraunt at Tellers in Hyde park cincinnati. Our old kiln room restaraunt Porkopolis seems to have gone out of business : (
We had 9 people present, one retiree, two early retirees, one near retiree, and the rest accumulators, so was a very diverse mix of people with good insights.
This was our first market meeting held during a bit of a downturn, so topics included behavorial changes and/or errors we may have made/are making during the downturn. A presentation was given on SV tilts, and the usual portfolio review roundtable was done. We hit superficially on many topics that I hope can be addressed as presentations in the future.
This meeting went a bit longer than normal at just over 2.5 hours due to the active discussions that took place in between the more structured segments. Overall, everything seemed to work out well, good food and a good meeting place for the future I think. Next meeting will likely be in October. Let me know if you have a topic you want to present at the next meeting.
cya next time,

4th Diehard meeting Held in February
We a great meeting with interesting discussion at the usual site, 9 people attended. Ken gave a good rebalancing presentation, much thanks to Ken. We also did a portfolio roundtable, year in review, and general discussion. Behavorial economic topics were introduced, and everyone aced the sample question, insofar as it was possible to "ace" it. Next meeting is in May, for our one year Cincinnati Diehard anniversary meeting. The usual portfolio review rountable, what I believe will be a running Behavoiral finance topic/minitopic, and Correlation Presentations are slated so far for May, please contact me if you want to present any topic. It was a fun meeting. In the future, we will do portfolio review/roundtable near the beginning instead of the end, and try to end up with the free flowing/random discussion for flexibility. We have a good size group of knowledgeable, interesting people. I look forward to seeing everyone again.

3rd Cincinnati Diehard meeting held
We had a great meeting with discussions about the biggest financial mistakes we have made/are making currently. A general review and discussion of our portfolios and planned changes for 2008. We had 5 regulars and two new faces as well as a good mix of retirees and accumulators. Nick22 gave a great presentation on CCFs, which was much appreciated. Foreign REITS were also discussed. Next meeting is in February 2008.
Happy Holidays,
LH
